Amy Schaus is a local artist specializing in handpainted antiques and unique furniture. A St. Joseph native, Amy began her career as a graphic artist, then found a new artistic medium in professional styling and set design for commercial photography. About 4 years ago, Amy took her long-time hobby and made it her full-time career.
With the help of her husband Sam, hand-picked furniture with loads of "character" are lovingly rehabbed to give them a new lease on life. The quality and the history of this old furniture is carefully restored, then painted to give each piece it's own personality - to start a new life with people who enjoy unique expression!
Amy credits her skills and gift of inspiration to her beloved family. A combination of her mother Joan's classic artistic taste and her late father Tene's sense of humor to make for truly one-of-a-kind family heirloom furniture made to be enjoyed by generations of your family!
Each piece is unique unto itself, as no design is ever duplicated. From serious to inspirational to downright sassy, furniture from the Painted Lady is created to be enjoyed now and for years to come.
A member of the Berrien Artists Guild, Amy lives and works from her home studio/workshop in Watervliet with her husband Sam, and loving dogs, Lenny and BlackJack.
